How old is my used Rolex ?
And in which country was it sold?
How old is my used Rolex ?
And in which country was it sold?
Answers to these two questions are provided by the following 3 Rolex parameters
The values mentioned here are not published directly by Rolex, as they do not provide these numbers, but have been compiled by collectors over time. So there may be some discrepancies here and there.
Rolex serial number
unfortunately only until 2010....
Rolex clasp code
unfortunately only until 2011....
Rolex country codes
this code is valid until 2020...
Rolex serial number
The serial number indicates the year in which a Rolex watch was produced.
From 2010, Rolex changed the serial number system. The serial number now has 8 digits instead of 7 as before. It consists of a randomly generated combination of numbers and letters. This means that from now on only Rolex knows the year the watches were produced.
Rolex clasp code
Rolex watch straps have the name STEELNIOX engraved on the clasp. Above this name are two letters with numbers 1 - 12. The letter indicates the year of production and the number indicates the month of production. An S in front of the letters/numbers can mean that it is a service clasp - it was replaced at a service.
Since 2011, the lock code has been made up of a combination of 3 numbers and/or letters. A chronological assignment is no longer possible from this point in time, since these numbers and letters are arranged randomly.
Rolex country codes
Rolex marks their warranty certificates with country-specific codes - each country has its own so-called "country code" . There are also codes for some NATO military bases. The exception to this is the USA - there are no country codes here.
With the country code, the buyer can see in which country the watch was originally delivered . Unfortunately only until 2020!
